January Buys

I think I'm just going to do a monthly post of the polishes I've gotten unless it's a HUGE haul.

Anyways, here are the polishes I had picked up towards the end of January.

OPI buy 1, get 2 free sale:

Fly, Tomorrow Never Dies, That's Berry Daring, The Spy Who Loved Me, Skyfall, Shatter The Scales

I also bought a couple Julep polishes from separate blog sales.

Mystery Glitter and America.

A closer shot of Mystery Glitter. It totally reminds me of Halloween, which is exactly why I bought it. And I got America for patriot holidays. :) I definitely can't wait for the chance to use these!

What do you think? Did you pick up any new polishes in January? What are you looking forward to getting in February?

ABC Challenge: Daisies

Hello, again, to all my challenge friends and blog readers! :) Today is the letter 'D' in our weekly ABC Challenge. Seem enticing? Head over to Kimber's Lacquer Corner to join...we would be glad to have you included!

Anywhoozle, I chose to do a daisy nail design. I really enjoyed doing this...I like anything that is relatively easy to do, yet turns out great looking. That's what I would say happened here. One of my more successful nail art attempts, for sure :)

Polishes I used:
Essie Bikini So Teeny
Zoya Creamy
OPI Alpine Snow

New Helmer: Before & After

I finally got my new Helmer this week. I had outgrown my first one by about 100 polishes.

My old setup (yes, my 'light box' is merely a piece of craft paper taped to the wall and a lamp! lol.)

You can see my desk shelves were getting cluttered with nail art things, lotions, and extra stuff.

And my 'overflow' basket had been completely overflown! lol.

I moved everything to the other side of the room for better light and more room, so this is my new set up:

The pretty boxes to the right hold all my packing and shipping supplies for swapping and such. My boyfriend picked them out all by himself. lol. Also, don't mind the belts to the left. This spare room is also used as my 'closet'. Men have a 'man cave', well this is my girl cave! LOL! I can do a tour video at some point if it is something that you ladies are interested in.

And pics of all the drawers, because what is a stash post without the goods!! lol!!

Let me know if you are interested in seeing anything in more detail or my closet/polish room.

OPI Ski Teal We Drop + Zoya Frida

I was going to split this into two posts, but it seemed kinda pointless considering Frida didn't make Ski Teal We Drop look too much different.

Here is OPI Ski Teal We Drop on it's own. It's a darkened blue leaning teal shade. This is not one of those shades that look black in low lighting. It is so rich and keeps it's color nicely no matter what the lighting.

Two coats, no top coat:

Then, since Zoya Frida is a teal jelly, I wanted to add it over Ski Teal We Drop for some added shine, and it did not disappoint! The base color did not change at all, but Frida added an insane amount of glossiness to the manicure.

2 coats Ski Teal We Drop, 1 coat Zoya Frida, no top coat.

Do you like layering similar colors of polish or layering polishes that are different to see what the outcome is?

Essie Jamaica Me Crazy

Essie's Jamaica Me Crazy is a magenta polish with lots of purple and pink micro glitter through out it. This polish is so pretty and goes on great! I did find that, like most Essies, the formula is thin, so you will need three thin coats for opacity. Also, like with most Essies, the shimmer shows up MUCH more predominately in the bottle than it does on the nail. I am used to this as far as this brand goes, but if you aren't as familiar with their polish, you may be a bit disappointed. The shimmer does give the polish a slight metallic-ish look without the unfortunate look of brush strokes.

Three coats and one coat Poshe:

How do you feel when the polish looks different on the nail than it does in the bottle? Sometimes it's a bit disappointing, so I'm glad I was anticipating this being much less sparkly than it looked.

Silver and Blue Half Moon Mani

This was my first attempt at a half-moon mani. I was going to use it as a mani for one of my Feb challenges, but then I realized how bad it sucked, so I figured I would try again ;)

These are seriously harder than they look. And I don't know if it's my nail shape or what, but the dang little stickers do not want to stay down around the edges of my nails, so it makes the sides look horrible. I am going to try again this weekend and see if I can do at least a litter better than this! lol.

Colors I used:
Color Club Worth The Risque
Zoya Song

Have you done a half moon mani? Did it turn out better or worse than you expected? This definitely turned out much worse than I had hoped! lol.

Color Club Worth The Risque

Color Club Worth The Risque is a silver holographic polish. Although, the holo in this polish is relatively weak compared to others.

I think it definitely showed up more in person than in these pics. For some reason, I was just having an off day and none of my manis or pictures were coming out like I wanted at all. :-/

Two coats:

I wish my pictures would have came out better because this really is a very pretty polish.
