I ended up doing a flower manicure because my two ideas prior to this were huge FAILS! lol. Yes, and that starts with an F!
Anyways, for this I used a base of China Glaze For Audrey and did a subtle gradient with OPI Fly (Yeah...you see what I did there? ;)) Then added some dried flowers. That seemed too bland for me, so I added some little iridescent sequins around the flowers, and it was perfect. I don't know how well it translates to pictures, but it really looked like flowers floating on sparkling blue water. I went shopping the next day and got tons of compliments on them!
Also, if you ever want to use dried flowers, my tip is to put them on tacky polish and then use a nice thick top coat to seal them on. That works the best. I didn't do that with my index finger (that's always my trial and error finger)...I had tried putting the top coat on first, then putting the flower on. It ended up falling off. But the rest were sealed in securely.
Wow it does really look like flowers floating on some magnificent island's water... ^^ I am glad you were hugely complimented on them, that's always so nice! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yes, it is. I hate when I spend a bunch of time on a mani that no body notices! lol.
DeleteThis mani makes me so happy! I love the spring/summer feeling to it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I loved it myself :)
DeleteWow this really looks incredible. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!

ReplyDeleteI have nominated you for Liebster Award. http://itsallaboutthepolish.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/ive-been-lucky-enough-to-have-been.html :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! :) I am flattered that you thought of me!
DeleteOh this is just gorgeous!! I have never seen this before. Are they are real flowers? Im intrigued! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...I think they are real flowers. They are dried, though, so they are very brittle and fragile. You have to use tweezers when you handle them. They are sold on Amazon, Ebay, and Born Pretty Store. Probably other places, too, but those are the most predominant.
DeleteThe index looks the best for me! This mani is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love how the pink popped against the blue base!
DeleteVery cute!! I'm a florist so I love flower manicures! <3
ReplyDeleteI am not a florist, but I love flower manicures! lol.
DeleteOh my gosh, these are so cute! I love that the flowers stand up against the base! :-)

Thanks, Kelly!
DeleteWhat a beautiful mani Sarah! You did great!
ReplyDeleteFlowers can be pretty tricky to get on the nail nicely cos they break so easy. When I use them with gel I always use a piece of plastic wrap to press them against the nail smoothly. I don't know if that technique would work with a top coat.
Thank you, Ria. Great idea with the plastic wrap. I will have to try that next time!
DeleteOh, honey. I must tell you that I was a bit concerned what I'd find here after learning about your "F"-ing difficulties in our Facebook group. Sarah! It turned out SUPERB and STUNNING. This is a very creative mani that you've knocked right out of the park. Love how the glitter suggests a pond of water. Love how the flowers so beautifully complement the concept.
ReplyDeleteYou did a FABULOUS (another "F") job!
Happy Valentine's Day, my friend!!!!!
