Birthday Balloon Mani

When I saw this balloon mani on Holy Manicures, I knew I had to try my hand at it for my daughter's fourth birthday party. Mine didn't turn out nearly as perfect and I can't wait to start taking better pics! lol. But, effective none the less...

The polishes I used:

LA Colors Nail Art White, OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Charged Up Cherry, OPI No Room For The Blues, China Glaze Gaga For Green, China Glaze Sunshine Pop, Flormar 410, LA Colors Nail Art Black.

China Glaze Running in Circles

I've been dying to wear China Glaze Running in Circles since I bought it a couple weeks ago. It's a gorgeous emerald green base with darker green glitter/shimmer. I like that it looks holiday-ish, but it also bright enough to be a spring polish, as well.

The first coat had minimal bald spots and was fully opaque in two coats. Here is two coats of polish and one coat Seche Vite.

Birthday Swap Package

Yesterday I received another package from my birthday group! This one was from Felicia...and here is what she sent.

Bodycology lotion, e.l.f. polishes: Red-y Or Not, Dazzle Diva, Chic Confetti, Misty Haze, Catrice Dirty Berry (a gorgeous holo), Sonia Kashuk nail polish in Lacquered Lilac, and lip gloss in Shrinking Violet, and a pack of Eos lip balms.

What is in the mini bottle, you ask? Oh, that's just....OPI BLACK SPOTTED!!!! O.M.G.! I wanted this so bad, but seriously figured it was one of those polishes I would never own. Since her package was late getting to me, she decanted some of her own bottle into a mini one so that I could have some. I swatched it on one nail and it's amazeballs! I can't wait to do a full mani with it!

What do you think of Black Spotted? A step up from crackle polish?

Layering: Essie Leading Lady + Essie As Gold As It Gets

I got bored with yesterday's mani of Essie's Leading Lady rather quickly, so I decided to layer As Gold As It Gets over top of it. I am really enjoying all the red & gold combos I have been seeing this season, so I went with my own version.

As Gold As It Gets was one of the polishes released in the Luxe Effect Collection. It is a gold glitter top coat that almost passes for a gold flakie top coat. I really liked how this looked over Leading Lady. I think they blended really well together, and almost looked as though it was one polish instead of one layered over the other. Application was smooth and easy, it was not difficult at all to get an even coat.

2 coats Leading Lady, 1 coat SV, and 1 coat As Gold As It Gets:

I kinda want to keep playing around with this mani. I might put a matte top coat over it and see how that looks, or maybe paint snowflakes on it? Maybe both? I don't know...what do you think??

Essie Leading Lady

Essie's Leading Lady was just released in the Leading Lady Collection for Winter 2012. It's a pinkish red base packed with red glitter.

I haven't quite made my mind up about this polish, yet. The good is that it is super sparkling, perfect for the Holidays, and really just a beautiful color. Unfortunately, I do not particularly care for reds on me, and the formula was not the greatest.

The first coat went on horribly uneven and kind of clumpy. The second coat evened things out a little bit, but there was still some splotchy spots and it looked almost bumpy from all the glitter. I was honestly tired of messing around with trying to work with the formula and just topped it off with a heavy layer of Seche Vite, which evened things out and really brought out the sparkle.

In the end, I am leaning more towards liking this polish, but I may put some thinner in it if I use it again.  I think I may layer some gold glitter over it and see how it looks. I am really loving red & gold together for the holidays this year.

Did you pick up any of the polishes from Essie's holiday collection this year? What are your thoughts??

Christmas Lights Nail Art

Let's get one thing straight here...I don't have a creative bone in my body. lol. When I am thinking of nail art, my brain goes something like this, "Hmmm...Christmas lights.........Uhhhhh...." So, that is why I love blogs and Pinterest to give me inspiration when I do get an idea, but don't know how to execute it.

Anyways, I saw this post on Just Another Polish Addiction and thought that it was a super cute mani and something that I could actually do myself. I decided to go with more sparkly colors because I wanted it to look like the lights were twinkling. I realized I don't have too many colored glitters in my stash...That will have to be changed!

I really liked how this turned out. The only thing I would have changed is the purple polish, but oddly enough I couldn't find anything purple and glittery. The end result was pretty much exactly what I was going for. I wish more of the sparkle would show up in the pics, but that always happens.

Colors used: OPI Your Royal Shine-ness, Etude House BL019, Essie Leading Lady, China Glaze Flying Dragon, China Glaze Running In Circles, and LA Colors Black striping polish.
